The Amazing I AM?
Job 38:4-14 (NLT)

One of my favorite passages in the Bible is this passage from Job. I think we have all had circumstances in our lives that made us want to question God and his intentions. Why did this beautiful child die of cancer? Why did a mother of four pass away in a car accident, leaving her family devastated? Why did Job lose his children and his livelihood all in one season?
God’s response to Job is quite beautiful and poetic. He is the great I AM—the one who was and is and will forever be. Simply put, His Ways are far greater than we could ever comprehend. Sometimes we get glimpses during our lifetime of how he has turned negative situations around for our good, and sometimes we don’t. But today, I want to encourage you to read this passage, allow your mind to linger on the descriptions of what God has done, and worship Him for the amazing I AM that he is!

“Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, if you know so much. Who determined its dimensions and stretched out the surveying line?
What supports its foundations, and who laid its cornerstone as the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?
Who kept the sea inside its boundaries as it burst from the womb, and as I clothed it with clouds and wrapped it in thick darkness?
For I locked it behind barred gates, limiting its shores. I said, ‘This far and no farther will you come. Here your proud waves must stop!’
Have you ever commanded the morning to appear and caused the dawn to rise in the east? Have you made daylight spread to the ends of the earth, to bring an end to the night’s wickedness?
As the light approaches, the earth takes shape like clay pressed beneath a seal; it is robed in brilliant colors.”
