A Personal God
By: Pastor Chrissy Cooney
Have you ever hesitated to ask God to do something very personal in your life?
He is a big God, and at times it can feel like our details are too small to concern Him. Be encouraged today that God cares about the details of your life, and He wants you to bring every request to Him. He will answer in His wisdom and His timing, but He takes joy in the relationship that is built when we bring everything (big and small) to Him.
God loves us corporately (all of us), and He loves us as individuals. We see this clearly in the brief mention of Simeon in the book of Luke. He is mentioned as an old man who was “righteous and devout”, and we are told that the Holy Spirit revealed to him that he would not die until he had seen the Messiah. What a beautiful, personal promise!
When Simeon holds the baby Jesus in his arms, he speaks the following words (a prophecy that applies to all people): “Sovereign Lord, now let your servant die in peace, as you have promised. I have seen your salvation, which you have prepared for all people. He is a light to reveal God to the nations, and he is the glory of your people Israel. (Luke 2:29-32 (NLT). p. 8 in Messiah).
Jesus is the fulfillment of the promise of a Messiah, a Savior for all people, everywhere, who will accept Him. And Jesus is the fulfillment of the very personal promise to Simeon that he would live to see this miracle.
God sees YOU. He loves YOU. The cross was for YOU. He is waiting for YOU to bring Him your concerns, hopes, and dreams today.
