We are the Ministers

Today, a friend brought us dinner. She brought us a huge pot of the most delicious soup we have ever had. Yes, it was tasty (so tasty, in fact, that we indulged in second helpings). But it was especially delicious because it was a selfless act of service done in love. Tonight, that pot of soup was ministry, and we were on the receiving end.
If you hang around Real Life Church long enough you will hear it said, “We are the ministers.” We use our gifts to love one another, serve one another, encourage one another, comfort one another…
In 1 Peter, it’s written like this, “And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God.” (1 Peter 2:5, p. 297 in Messiah)
We are living stones, building the Church of Jesus Christ. Alive in Him, showing our love for Jesus by being obedient to His command to love one another.
We are holy priests. We share the gospel in every action, in every situation, in every conversation – allowing Jesus to shine through us so the world may see and know Him. Demonstrating who He is by living holy lives full of kindness, goodness, and mercy. Not perfect, but continually surrendering our lives to Him.
We offer spiritual sacrifices. We bring the sacrifice of self – laying down our own desires in the service of others and bringing the sacrifice of praise to the only One who is worthy.
