Our Work

We misunderstand work when we only view it as a bad means to a good end. We’re on the clock so we can afford life when we are off the clock. We suck it up Monday to Friday so we can live it up on the weekend. We keep our shoulder to the wheel for years dreaming of days when our only care is not missing our tea time or our tee time. When we think that way we consign a massive amount of our lives to some sort of meaningless grind.

Paul told the Corinthians that “whether you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (I Corinthians 10:31) The next time you are pulling out for work, consider that God has very intentionally sent you there as a temple in the midst of that place.

If you really believe that, how will that change the meaning behind a conversation you will have with a client? How will that impact a major decision that will require bravery and integrity? Will it change how you look at your time clock, your task list, or your cubicle partner? See your temporary job through eternal eyes. Wow, what an important day lies before you!
