I Can Do Hard Things
By: Kaleigh Hoschar
One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision and told him, “Don’t be afraid! Speak out! Don’t be silent! For I am with you, and no one will attack and harm you, for many many people in this city belong to me.” Acts 18: 9-10
Paul was preaching in Corinth at the time of this vision. We know that although there was a Jewish presence there, the city itself was morally decadent which means there was a decline of ethical values and an uptick in excessive self-indulgence or selfishness.
I recently found myself sitting in my living room watching the news. It’s not something I typically do because sometimes it fills me with sadness for the heart posture of our world.
I look at the streets of foreign countries and the streets of our own backyard here in America and they don’t look that different. Levels of moral decadent…
If you are like me, a follower of Christ… the idea of going to the street and sharing the gospel with a broken world can be daunting. But God says..
Don't be afraid!
Speak out!
Don’t be silent!
I am WITH you…
There are others who will stand beside you…
It’s easy to be afraid of the world and hard to be bold. But we can do hard things together.
But I pray we write this scripture on our hearts so that we may be a neighbor to all and fiercely love those in our oikos enough to share the good news of Christ!
