Beautiful Things
By: Pastor Chrissy Cooney
I was invited to a new friend’s house recently, and as she showed me around her home, I couldn’t help but notice that she has an eye – and a gift – for making things beautiful. Every place that my eyes found to rest, there was beauty. The coolest part was the fact that none of those beautiful things were brand new and I doubt that any of them were in the condition that they were originally sold in.
Car parts were turned into light fixtures…
Old magazine covers were a gallery wall…
A piece of original siding from the house was a featured work of art.
This gift that my friend has includes the ability to see something old and worn out and repurpose it into something useful and beautiful.
God does this too.
Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
He can take our worst moments and work them together for good. He can make something beautiful out of a bad situation or our hardest season, if we surrender it to him. If we take it to Him and ask what He wants to do with it.
Dear Reader, as you ponder what’s next in the new year or the next season, don’t discount that God is working in you and through you to make beautiful things out of where you are right now. He takes what we have, touches it with His Mighty Hands, cleans it up, gives it new purpose, and makes it shine like only He can!
