GO GO GO!
By: Kaleigh Hoschar
I want to do ALL the things ALL the time!
If you know me personally, you would know that I love my work and I love to work. I stretch until I can’t stretch any further.
Does anyone else see a problem here?
I had a dear friend and mentor of mine stop me the other day and tell me about what it means to be "dangerously tired”. This idea that we are go go go and are SO stressed and SO tired that we push ourselves to a point where we begin to suffer emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
In my love for being able to operate at high capacity for a long period of time, I developed a severe lack of humility. And I know that because my REST was affected. My relationships were affected. My capacity to sit with the Lord in the silence was affected. I could see pride slowly creep into my life.
So, what does rest have to do with pride? Glad you asked!
Matthew 11: 28-29 says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Again with this idea of drawing NEAR to Christ…
As he had drawn near to us with his presence…..
What will we find in Jesus’ humble heart this season?
You see, we don’t have to be GO GO GO…
That's prideful.
That's bold of us.
To assume that we get a pass at humility just because the season is “busy”.
Challenging us today, to lay pride at the stable door as we go to rest beside the manger.
