In the Waiting…
By: Pastor Chrissy Cooney
I can’t imagine the heartbreak that she went through while she waited and trusted.
When I was two years old, I was kidnapped by my father. Four years later, through the miraculous hand of God, my mother found me. But I can’t imagine my mother’s heartbreak for those four formative years. Years of being unable to find her baby, not knowing if I was suffering, and wondering if I called another woman mama.
In the hardest and most difficult times in my life, in the moments where I find myself asking, “God, where are you right now?” I think about my mom during those four years. I think about the fact that she trusted God in the waiting. In those years her faith and dependance on Him grew beyond measure. In those years she learned to pray, to ask and keep on asking. And when God moved, she witnessed the miraculous.
Are you familiar with the story of Joseph, who was thrown into prison by Potiphar for a crime he didn’t commit? Genesis 39:20-21 says, “Joseph’s master took him and put him in prison … But while Joseph was there in prison, the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.”
Friend, if you are facing a situation that feels hopeless, if you are waiting for God to move but it seems to be taking a lifetime - trust in His goodness, trust that He hears you, He sees you, and He is with you. In the hard place, when it’s not fair and it feels like there are no answers – He is there. Know that even in the waiting, He is with you.
