God’s Handiwork
By: Anna Williams

If you’ve ever been incapacitated by injury, illness or disability, you’ve likely wrestled with the question: “What am I supposed to do with this, God? How can I be of use when I’m burdened by these challenges? I’ve watched my child (who has a rare, life-threatening disease) battle through this and her determination to spread the joy and love of Jesus with others is a daily inspiration.

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. -Ephesians 2:10 NLT

I love this concept of being God’s masterpiece created anew in Christ. God created us once in the beginning (knit together inside our mother’s womb) with all our unique attributes that have the potential to bear out many skills and giftings.

Then again, when we accept Christ as our Savior, he redeems those hidden qualities and leads us towards a new life of using them for the intended purpose- His Kingdom.
It is only in embracing God’s purposes designed for us at our creation that we gain fulfillment and the peace that comes with finding our place in this world. No other purpose or calling will satisfy the same.

While Jesus walked this earth, he demonstrated that the Gospel is available to anyone and everyone. Can you only use your mind and three fingers? God can use you. Are you bedridden with lots of time on your hands? He can work with that. Are you still alive and breathing? Great – God has more plans for you!
