Week 8: August 6th
Giving is Living

What if I told you that all that you have isn’t just for you?
That to keep it all to yourself is death and to give it away is Life?
You might disagree with me. You might think that all that you have, brings life to you. That the things of this world bring you happiness, security, self reliability, etc.
In Luke 12:15 Jesus says “Watch out and be on guard against all greed, because one’s life is not in the abundance of his possessions.”
So Jesus says it right there… life is not in the abundance of our possessions.
“One person gives freely, yet gains more; another withholds what is right only to become poor.
A generous person will be enriched, and the one who gives a drink of water will receive water.”
Proverbs 11: 24- 25
So the one that gives freely gains more!
A generous person will be enriched. The definition of enriched is to make richer by the increase of some desirable quality or attribute.
That sounds like Life to me!
It’s pretty clear God wants us to give generously and this brings life not just to those who receive but to the ones giving as well.
I leave you with a challenge! Give generously today whether it is material items, time, energy, love, grace, patience, prayer, etc etc.
Just give, because Giving is Living!
