No Expiration Date
By: Pastor Todd
My wife loves Kohl’s cash. I often laugh and tell her it is retail’s most effective gimmick. Especially the expiration date. Now we must get back in the store soon before we “lose money” when it goes out of date. So we hurry in and somehow walk out having saved money by spending? Not sure about that, but I do like being happily married- so that is not going to change any time soon.
Do you know what never expires? God’s willing presence in our lives. Even King David, who didn’t yet have Jesus to inform his theology, celebrated how God’s presence is with us in this life AND the life to come. He says
You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
-Psalm 16:11
If you have ever experienced the beauty of his presence in prayer here and now, imagine what it will be like when we can see him fully and know him more completely in heaven. What a day that will be!
