For Such a Time as This
By: Pastor Shane Beauvais
“...And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14
This morning I went for a short run into the sunrise along the shoreline. As the waves crashed and the water washed alongside my path, I recall thinking about how different running on the beach is compared to asphalt. Everything from my distance perception to the ever-changing surface under my feet was utterly foreign.
After a short 2.5 miles, I decided to walk back to my starting place. As I walked, sections on the morning shore were littered with broken shells. There were also areas where the shoreline was perfectly smooth from the retracting tide. At this moment, a penny washed ashore, and at this moment, time stood still. All I could hear was the closing words of Mordecai’s motivational speech to Esther, “For such a time as this.” (Take a moment and read Esther 4).
At this moment, “For such a time as this,” meant that all the places I could be, the season where I live, and the decision to run the beach instead of the blacktop had a more profound significance, and God wanted me to hear this through a penny washing ashore.
Perhaps "for such a time as this" has a more profound significance for all of us. In this Bible story, Esther carries out God's will. In this story, a royal ruler's heart is opened by God through a plea that requires obedience. In this story, God knew the perfect time and person for the job, and as a result, the royal ruler's favor is experienced profoundly by many.
I want to encourage you today! No matter the situation, your season, or where you find yourself currently, you can wake up daily knowing that your "for such a time as this" is RIGHT NOW! Just like Esther, we can trust the King of kings to guide us as we say “yes” in obedience, even when it does not make sense! When we do, we will discover that even amid our uncomfortable circumstances, hardships, and everything in between, God has a plan and picked you to be the pivotal person for this moment!
