Why do you want the Holy Spirit?
By: Pastor Amie Donovan
“And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” -Colossians 3:14
Why do you want the Holy Spirit?
This is a question I ask myself often. Is it the supernatural power to change my circumstance that results in my cry out to Him? Is it the mighty ways He can act in my life, that result in this desire?
Do I want the Holy Spirit in my life because of what He can do for me, or do I want Him because He is God?
The Holy Spirit is the giver of transformation. He works from our inside out.
I want the Holy Spirit because He first wanted me.
He desires a holiness in me that I didn’t even know how to ask for. He is love. Amid a broken and angry world, Holy Spirit produces in me what He Himself already is.
The more I sit with Him in prayer, the more I want the world to see Him. The more I want my community to experience Him. The more I want my students and my church to know He first loved them too.
We live our encounter with God by leaning into the power Holy Spirit gives us!
Peace over conflict. Restoration over brokenness. Understanding over screaming. Showing up over sitting out.
Grabbing a towel, over reaching for a crown.
Jesus said in John 13:35, “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
As you walk into your week church, know that because of The Holy Spirit, you can put on love.
