Hunger - 4.22.21

Real Life Devotional Series “Hunger” – Week 2 - Thursday – Pastor Mark White
Better than Gold & Honey
Psalm 19:10-11 (NLT)
They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb. They are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them.

I often heard the roaring ocean as I stood on the beach in Ocean City, Maryland, or stood gazing at the sight of a magnificent mountain in Pittsburgh. Standing in awe of God’s creation and the God who created it all.

In the same way, our hearts fill with wonder, admiration, delight, and appreciation for the Word of God.  Opening God’s word is like entering a cavern filled with gold, silver, and precious jewels.  As we behold the glory, beauty, and holiness of our God, we cannot help but be humbled.  We hardly belong here.  But the Holy Spirit calls and bears witness to our spirit, drawing us in. As our affections dance with delight beholding His salvation compels us to remove our shoes because we know that we are standing on Holy ground.

Are we hungry for the Word of God? Do we rejoice in the fact that we have in our hands the standard of truth and what is right? When we open God’s Word each day, does our heart leap with expectation as to what God teaches us today and how He will lead us in the paths of righteousness? As God’s Word speaks to us on Sunday morning, is it more desirable than gold, even the finest gold.  Do we find it sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb?  To those who cherish and obey, it is a great reward.
