Hunger - 4.19.21

Real Life Devotional Series “Hunger” – Week 2 - Monday – Pastor Chris
Transformed By The Word
Scripture Reading — Ephesians 3:14-21 (LEB)

On account of this, I bend my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that he may grant you according to the riches of his glory to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith (you having been firmly rooted and established in love), in order that you may be strong enough to grasp together with all the saints what is the breadth, and length, and height, and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, in order that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
Now to the one who is able to do beyond all measure more than all that we ask or think, according to the power that is at work in us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

One of the greatest joys of my life is teaching the Word of God. At Real Life, Pastor Ann Strickler and I teach the Disciple Bible Study series. Disciple can seem quite daunting. Disciple One is thirty-four weeks long, journeying from Genesis to Revelation, requires at least 20-30 minutes of reading a day, and then culminates in a 2 hour plus class every week. Disciple Two, Three, and Four are less daunting at 34 weeks, and only four books of the Bible per the entire course of study. The Disciple class is daunting but so worth it.

I desire to continually offer these opportunities to engage with the living word of God.  To engage as many people as possible who hunger to be transformed by the Word of God. The reason I desire to see these opportunities to engage with the Holy Spirit-inspired word of God draws from the passage you read today.

Look at some of the statements in the passage,
“that He may grant you according to the riches of his glory to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person,”
“know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge,”
“that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God,”
“the one who is able to do beyond all measure more than all that we ask or think, according to the power that is at work in us.”

As a Disciple of Jesus, hungering for the Word, and reading the Word of God, combined with the Holy Spirit's indwelling, brings knowledge, fullness, power, strength, and love.
