Starting December 5th, service times are moving to Sundays at 8:30, 10, & 11:30 am!

40 DAYS - Day 1 - 2.21.21

Love Goes the Distance
40 Days of Prayer, Scripture & Fasting - Day 1 – Sunday, February 21st

Real Life, over the next 40 days, you are going to engage an opportunity to read through the Gospel of Mark, read a devotion, and spend time in prayer and fasting every day. Every day there will be an assigned scripture text (Grab your Bible and read the entire assigned scripture), devotion, and focused prayer. The only variance will be on Sundays where the scripture will be from Psalms or Isaiah, and there will be just a quote or extended written prayer to meditate on, no actual devotion, plus the weekly assigned fast. Today you will also read the beginning of Mark.

Along this journey, we encourage you to engage in 9 Daily Steps when reading and applying the words of Mark's Gospel, devotion, and prayer/fasting time.

9 Daily Steps when Reading the Scriptures and Devotions
Pause - Spend a moment in silence, asking the Holy Spirit to speak to you through God's Word.
Read - Read the passage of Scripture and devotion slowly.
Reflect - What do these passages reveal about God/Jesus, you, and how you should respond.
Listen - Take a moment and just be. Listen to what the Spirit is saying to your heart.
Pray – Pray the assigned prayer, personal prayers, and the prayers of others.
Journal - Use a Journal to write down your thoughts.
Practice - Engage in being faithful to respond to what God has said to you during this time.
Encourage/Share – Share with your OIKOS about what God is saying during this devotional time.
Fast – Participate in the assigned fasts for each of the six weeks of Love Goes the Distance.

Day One Scripture Reading - Psalm 25:1–10 & Mark 1:1-2:17
Focused Prayer – Pray for everyone beginning this 40 Day Journey that the Holy Spirit spiritually and emotionally changes them during the next 40 days.
Weekly Fast – FOOD – This can be a particular meal of the day, type of food, or an extended period of fasting. Remember, it's something you love and will be a sacrifice for you to give up.

There is so much more God has in mind for us than I previously thought possible. I now live more in his grace and peace and love. – Klaus Issler

A Diary of Private Prayer by John Baillie - Today, O Lord, let me put right before interest; let me put others before self; let me put the things of the Spirit before the things of the body; let me put the attainment of noble ends before the enjoyment of present pleasures; let me put principle above reputation; let me put you before all else. Amen.
