Born in the Right Time
By: Nicole Goddard
I often wonder if I was born in the wrong generation. I’m a garden loving, green bean canning, bread baking, apron wearing Mama in her 30’s who seems to better relate to my seniors than my peers. I’ve been known to grumble that these times are not what they use to be. But God made no mistake placing me here, in this time, equipping me for such a time as this.
Jesus was also no stranger to a culture that had evolved and drastically skewed God’s commands, and the gospels are full of examples of him serving his children right where they were at. He met the shunned Samaritan woman at the well. He preached in relatable stories that didn’t make his audience feel inferior to the message. He bent down and washed feet in the midst of his disciple’s confusion. He served up firm words of truth wrapped with love.
It can feel daunting determining how to share the gospel in today’s culture. But rest assured you don’t have to figure this out on your own.
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. John 14:26.
So pray directly to the Spirit dwelling within you. Ask that he show you how to reach your oikos and to help you get creative in these times. Let him equip you with the right words and the ability to meet people where they are at. Give it a try and I’ll bet you will have some amazing God moments this week!
