Where to Place Your Trust
By: Pastor Todd
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you,
all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.
-Isaiah 26:3-4 NLT
Do you ever have an old jingle pop up in your mind? That must be proof some writer did his job well! The one that came to me today was that there are “two scoops of plump juicy raisins in Kellogg’s Raisin Bran.” A reality so exciting even the sun is smiling on the front of the box!
What brought this to mind? Well, I went and looked up the word for perfect in “perfect peace” in today’s scripture and discovered it was the exact same word as peace. A form of shalom. In other words, Isaiah just repeated the word twice. If you focus on God you get peace, peace. Or Peace on peace, or peace squared, or… you get the idea.
So if you want to double down on the peace you receive in the middle of whatever you are going through, stop looking at the problem, stop scurrying around first for the solution, and just s.t.o.p. Set your mind on God, place your trust in him and let him give you two heaping scoops of peace.
