Wait for the Lord
By: Pastor Todd
Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
-Psalm 27:14 NIV
Don’t EVER judge a gift by its wrapping. I’ve opened some beautiful boxes to less than stellar results, and the most memorable Christmas gift I ever got- a drum set- wasn’t even wrapped up. (I only discovered it when my dad faked that he needed a screwdriver and sent me to the basement to get it for him.) Until a gift is revealed, we just really don’t know for sure what is in store.
Sometimes we go through seasons that “gift” us with some pretty ugly wrapping. We wonder how that thing we are going through can ever turn out for our good. Sometimes it just takes a long while for things to turn. Our patient God is working while we are waiting.
The text tells us we need to be strong because waiting is not easy. We want our answer and we want it now. But a rushed miracle might ultimately be worse for us than slow unfolding. Sometimes our best prayer is “God make me strong enough to wait on your work” instead of “God hurry up and work!”
