Christ’s Transforming Work
By: Anna WIlliams
Peter, James and John left their nets and started fishing for men. Paul started planting
churches in the places where he had once tried to stamp out Christianity. Matthew stopped cooking the books for Rome and started writing a book about God’s Kingdom. Their encounters with Jesus were life changing.
“He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.
So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought ofChrist merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now!
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:15-17 NLT
The foundational difference between the few who became known as the disciples and the
many who pursued Jesus, was transformation. Those few made a personal choice to surrender everything to him; to allow him to change whatever aspect of their lives that he deemed necessary; and to follow his lead, come what may.
If our lifestyle remains overall unchanged since we met Jesus, how can we claim
conversion? If we hold tightly to our best laid plans, hoard our resources, and refuse to leave our comfort zones, how can God use us effectively in our OIKOS?
Today is an opportunity for a heart check. Prayerfully ask Holy Spirit to show you any
areas of your life that are not surrendered to him so that you can repent and experience a new transforming work!
