Jesus > AI: The Connection That Never Drops
By: Sheila Sonon

1 Peter 3:8 (NIV) says, “Be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.”

Imagine if Jesus had an iPhone—walking along the Sea of Galilee, scrolling through His messages, a selfie filter giving Him a halo (as if He needed one). Instead of meeting the woman at the well, face-to-face, he might've sent a quick text: “Swipe right on dead ends again?” Lazarus might’ve been raised via FaceTime—“Unmute yourself, buddy!”

But that’s not who Jesus is. The power of His ministry wasn’t in convenience—it was in presence. When the woman who had been bleeding for years reached out to Him, she didn’t drop a prayer emoji; she pushed through the crowd to touch the hem of His robe. Healing didn’t come from distance—it came from closeness, from the raw, holy nearness of the Healer.

Faith isn’t a livestream event—it’s a lived experience. The body of Christ doesn’t run on Wi-Fi; it runs on real love, patience, and grace shared face-to-face—in kitchens, hospital rooms, and around bonfires. Fellowship is soul food. It feeds the spirit, reminds us we’re not alone, and reconnects us to the way God designed life to be—together, not isolated behind a screen.

When I start to doubt—“Am I really doing what God wants me to do?”—my prayer friends pull me back. They remind me that those thoughts come from the adversary. They pray with me, speak truth over me, and help me find my center again.

AI can give information, but it can’t give reassurance. It can respond, but it can’t relate. Only people can do that—because they know God, they know me, and they know my heart.
So this week, put the phone down. Show up. Share a meal. Pray out loud. Because with Jesus, you’ll never lose a signal.
