Walk Your Talk
By: Pastor Todd
But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds."
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that — and shudder.
-James 2:18-19 NIV
Simple lesson today…walk your talk. Five different times in the Bible we are told that faithful action was credited to someone as righteousness. We usually think of righteousness as this internal state if being- but the Bible says otherwise.
There come certain moments in all of our lives where all the talk about faith is meaningless if it doesn’t move beyond our tongues and energize our hands and feet. True faith takes leaps, true faith goes counter-cultural, and even steps out toward what others call impossible. Seas don’t make a habit of parting.
In reality, our willingness to move when God says move exposes whether or not we really believe what we claim we do. If the righteous live by faith, and we are never willing to take any chances in our lives based upon our faith, then how can we claim to even be righteous?
Sunday we celebrated that the people of God obeyed his command and walked through the Sea at God’s command. What scary thing might God ask you to do today?
