He Chose to Die for Me
By: Anna Williams
Have you ever been on a vacation or even gone on a date where everything was planned out by someone else in advance? Maybe they booked a restaurant that serves your favorite food, or they booked an excursion that you’ve always wanted to try.
Their attention to your preferences, their desire to please you and their efforts to demonstrate that you matter make the activity even more special. You feel seen and loved.
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” -Romans 5:8 NIV
Here in the book of Romans, the Apostle Paul is explaining something similar in some ways and yet also overwhelmingly more intense in other ways. He wants us to try to grasp in our minds just how much God loves us to have made the necessary sacrifices to meet our needs when we didn’t even know we needed it.
Sometimes the tragedies of life on this sin-filled Earth can overwhelm us and we can fall into a distorted view of God. Take heart, dear Friends, and remember this verse! You are worth so much to God that he planned your salvation through his sacrifice before you were even born. He loves YOU. You can trust his hand to guide you through anything!
