Radical Grace
By: Pastor Amie

Talking to my daughter one morning, this thought entered my mind. “To truly look like Christ, you must give others what they don’t deserve, not what they do.” We want to give what we think people are owed, rather than extending a radical grace that isn’t based on someone’s attitude, action, or mindset at all! Rather how we treat them is based on how Jesus treats us! How Jesus LOVES us!

Love is patient. Love is kind. It keeps no record of wrongs and doesn’t delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. If we gain the whole world, serve in every ministry, exhaust every gift but lack love we are nothing.

God looks at the heart. He knows us inside and out. The way we talk about, write about, and think about others is known by God.

With our mouth we confess that we long for diverse pews, sickly people entering into the body of believers, and to see the lost found. But with our actions if we cut, hurt, push off, divide or live duplicitous lives we are not a help to the kingdom but rather a hindrance.

So what’s the solution?
Give them what they don’t deserve.

In the face of mean, be kind.
In the face of gossip, let go.
In the face of cold, draw in.
When you have every right to walk away, pull up a seat.
When they forget you, remember them.
When they celebrate your fall, celebrate their success.
When they fail, comfort them.
When they laugh, laugh with them and when they weep, weep with them.

“In this all people will know you’re my disciples, if you love one another.” -John 13:35
