Victory In Jesus
By: Pastor Amie

Picture this with me. It’s the night before Jesus will be arrested and ultimately crucified. There’s a table with friends gathered around it. It’s the meal we call The Last Supper. Jesus has broken the bread. Judas has left the room. The disciples are confused, and Jesus is explaining what is to come in a matter of hours. “This world will hate you. I am going to be with the Father. Love one another through it all.” Fear. Questions. Rebuking. Defense rises. “What is happening?” No doubt this question floods their mind.

Then Jesus drops this:

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” John 16:33

It’s a Thursday yet they’re being warned of all Good Friday will mean. In verse 33, Jesus is proclaiming SUNDAY’S COMING! He’s speaking victory even before they understood the fight! God never ceased to be in control. He knew. He has always known. He had it under control. In the middle of the battle, He reminds them the war is already won!

I don’t know what battle lies In front of you today. I certainly hope arrests and persecution isn’t on the table. Regardless, this I know for certain. We can trust our Sovereign God is with you through it all. Friends, in this world you will have trouble. But take heart! Jesus has overcome the World!
