Make Me Your Instrument
By: Allison Hand

“For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”

God wants His light shined. He wants Jesus to be known to everyone and everywhere. And He wants you to do it. In your home, at the work place, at the grocery store, at family gatherings. God brings you where He can bring His Light.

This poem beautifully illustrates ways we can be light bringers.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
—St. Francis of Assisi

What are some situations you might find yourself in where you would need to be the one bringing God’s light into?
