Be Still
By: Pastor Amie Donovan

“The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14

Come on!
Imagine this scene with me for a second!

You have Moses and the recently escaped people of Israel trying to make it to a land that promises freedom. God shows up in a mighty way! He guides them in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.

“We’re finally free” they must be thinking as they take each step.

Plot twist!

At about this point, the Egyptian army regrets the decision to allow God's
people to go and catches up to them!

The people hit a dead end.
In front of them a sea; behind them their doom.

They begin to panic!

They begin to question. “What do we do?”

They are seeking wisdom from their leader, Moses. What does he tell them?

“Be still.”

In their stillness, the Lord says to Moses, “Raise your staff and stretch out your hand
over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry
ground.”

Do you find yourself at a dead end?

In front of you uncertainty; behind you the past?

Do you find yourself in panic mode wondering when deliverance will come?

Quiet your mind and remember the words of Moses.

Be still and wait upon the LORD for deliverance.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with
wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” -
Isaiah 40:31
