A Peace Like No Other
By Lori Ennis
"These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." John 16:33
Are you anxious right now?
Does the world feel different than it ever has before? And I'm not just talking about pandemic life… it's evident that the tribulations of this world are screaming across the globe.
It's unimaginably uncomfortable. It's heartbreaking. It's gut-wrenching.
You may just want to turn away from it all because your heart just can't take it.
You're not alone.
Jesus knew this very second in time would come. He saw you reading these words…knew you'd be nodding your head and wondering what was to come. And in anticipation of this moment, He told His disciples what still holds true today: This world has tribulation, but He has overcome the world.
Read that again. He has overcome THE WORLD.
And not with a peace that comes from all the ills of the world ceasing–whether it's war or the breakdown of your marriage or the loss of your job or even the car battery going dead or the price of gas being astronomical.
It's a peace that can only come from The Prince of Peace…an Everlasting Peace. John 14:27 says, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
He IS Peace. The world can only give a peace that is unstable and ever-changing since it depends on what happens with others and earthly situations.
But the peace that comes from Him?
It's one He's promised despite how we feel or what we fear because it's literally who He is and He draws near to us, especially as we're feeling broken and crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
Today, let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. Lean into Him, as He's already drawn nearer to you and is eager to give you His everlasting peace.
