Changing Course
No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them.
(1 John 3:9)
I recently read a lengthy biography on the life of George Műller. Though I knew some of his story, I had no idea who he was before his conversion to Christ. By the age of ten, he was already a habitual liar and thief, and at sixteen he was sitting in a dirty jail cell, a swindler and a drunk. It would be another five years before George Műller was reborn, changing the course of his life.
Fast forward to a different place and time. Esperanza and Abram were living together, unmarried. Don Arnoldo owned a bar on the strip. And Pedro, Julio, and Marlo were incarcerated in the Granja Penal. But like Mueller, all of them were changed.
God loves to grow his family and give his children a new nature. George Műller went on to care for ten thousand orphans in Europe, travel the world preaching the gospel, and support missionaries all over the globe. Esperanza and Abram were married and hosted a Bible study in their home, leading to the building of a church. Don Arnoldo stopped selling alcohol, setting an example for his six children and the community. And those three young prisoners? They became Bible school students, giving them their own jail ministry!
The more you know God, the more sin falls away. Who knows what God will grow in its place.
Thank God for the change he’s made in your life.
