Thank You, Lord
By: Pastor Melissa Beauvais
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
What began as a silly quote that we began saying over everything in the Beauvais house became a mantra that slowly became a prayer in everything we did. When things are amazing and we see God’s hand working, we say “Thank you, Lord”. When things become hard and circumstances are less than ideal, we still say “Thank you, Lord”.
Giving thanks to God in all things has changed our perspective, particularly when hard times have come. Perhaps that is what Paul is teaching here to the church of Thessalonica. Gratitude towards God seems to be lost when suffering is happening. Yet, Paul says “all circumstances”.
Gratitude to God always draws us back to Jesus. Thankfulness in celebration and suffering will always point you back to His faithfulness and His love. Today I challenge you to stop and give thanks and whisper a small prayer, “Thank you, Lord” no matter what surrounds you in this moment or this day.
