How Great Is Our God!
By: Pastor Amie Donovan
In Hosea, we see the prophet of love. He’s called to take a rebellious and unfaithful wife. Gomer gives herself over to other men and other ideals. Yet, called by God, Hosea repeatedly takes her back. In a twist of events, God compares Israel to this woman. He calls out the way they are divided and unfaithful at heart.
Yet He loves.
God says in Hosea 11v8-9, “How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I surrender you, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I treat you like Zeboiim? My heart is turned over within Me, and All My compassions are kindled. I will not carry out My fierce anger; I will not destroy Ephraim again. For I am God and not a man, the Holy One in your midst, And I will not come in wrath.”
The love story of God proclaims His goodness, His mercy, and His grace. Despite what we deserve, He chooses to love us. He chooses to redeem and restore us. How great is our God? How wonderful are His ways? Would you pray this passage with me?
“The Lord is gracious and compassionate.
Slow to anger and great in mercy.
The Lord is good to all,
And His mercies are over all His works.
All Your works will give thanks to You, Lord,
And Your godly ones will bless You.” -Psalms 145 8-10
