Strangers No More
"Now you are no longer strangers to God and foreigners to heaven, but you are members of God's very own family, citizens of God's country, and you belong to God's household with every other Christian." Ephesians 2:19 (LB)
Before I came to know Jesus, when I was ‘lost,’ I often felt alone, as if I didn't fit in. I was blessed to have a loving family but "out in the world," I felt unsure, questioning what to trust or believe. I felt as if something was missing and I really wanted to know the purpose of life.
But once I met Jesus and was saved, I experienced the joy of a new life and a new sense of peace and assurance. I believed God did have a purpose in life for me. I was eager to be around other Christians and hungry to learn more about God and how to serve Him. I quickly found that I spent most of my spare time at church meetings or with other believers.
As the years passed, I have never lost that hunger to connect with others who believe and have the same experience with Jesus. Even when I have traveled alone to other countries to meet up with pastors and faithful churchgoers, I have been amazed at how quickly we "connected" simply because of our alike faith! Despite very different cultures, food and languages, I found the relationship and friendship grew as if we truly were brothers and sisters - in the same family and with the very same father! Even with language barriers, knowing we all study and believe the same Bible; love and follow Jesus; and seek guidance from the same Holy Spirit, we quickly connect with other believers and get to know more of our Christian brothers and sisters.
In fact, BECAUSE of that, we also are eager to share that very experience with others who are lost so that they, too, can become part of God's family!
