They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?”
He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.”
Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. Jesus sent him home, saying, “Don’t even go into the village.”

In this passage, we see Jesus once again taking mediocre supplies and abundantly and exponentially turning them into blessings upon blessings. He shows His love and tenderness for the people listening to him by being about their basic hunger needs. We can see from this passage that Jesus is in the details—He’s not out of our reach and above us, but right in it with us and knows what we need right to our core. More, He wants to provide it because He loves us so.

And when the blind man’s friends bring him to Jesus for healing, it might at first look like Jesus needed a second touch for a complete restoration. What was revealed is that Jesus has the power to heal us wholly and thoroughly, but we often get in our way when we don’t allow full faith in that possibility. It was after the first touch that Jesus asks, “What do you see?” that the man’s fuzzy faith begins to show promise for full trust in His Lord. When we give that complete trust to Jesus, He alone can restore us.

Prayer Focus – Today, we pray for our Christian Military men, women, and families as they serve our nation. Pray for their continued safety, and also that in the most challenging of situations, they testify and bear witness to the power of Jesus Christ.
