Killing Me Softly 2.3.21

Killing Me Softly Devotional Series – Week 4 – Imitating – Wednesday - Lori Ennis
Force of Nature

Proverbs 31:8-9 (NASB)
"Open your mouth for the people who cannot speak, for the rights of all the unfortunate. Open your mouth…and defend the rights of the poor and needy."

For much of my life, I have felt inadequate.
And that has been because I have compared myself to everyone around me. Not as pretty or popular as another woman; not as good a wife as this one, not as good a mother as that one. I have always called myself "Barbie's friend Midge" because I am still the reliable go-to who gets things done. Rarely on the party invite list, but you can better believe I was on the planning committee.

A few years ago, in front of a large group of people, I was jokingly referred to as a "Force of Nature." Of course, it was meant in a good way as one who barrels in and gets things done with zeal.

My insecurities, however, made me ask, "Do people think that of me? That I'm just a loud hurricane that leaves a mess behind?"

I asked a good friend what she thought, and she told me that when she thinks of me, she believes God gave me a loud voice and a big heart for His people so that I could speak for those who could not and defend the least of these. She told me there was no one she would ever want more 'on her side' than me. Can I tell you how encouraged I was?

It is so easy for us to feel inadequate because we try to be someone we are not.
But what joy we can find when we ask God to tell us who we are in HIM and then wear His armor proudly!

If you are feeling less than because you are constantly comparing yourself to someone else, just remember—YOU too are a force of nature! A one-of-a-kind, wonderfully, miraculously purposed human made in the image of our Awesome God!
