That’s Ridiculous, Or Is It?
By: Pastor Mark White
“Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.”
Matthew 10:39 NIV
Think about it; we as Christians tend to do ridiculous things. We will move our families thousands of miles away just to share the good news of Jesus. We will foster or adopt children even when we already have a full home. We will forfeit jobs that would require us to sacrifice our integrity. We will sacrificially “go without” so that we can bless someone else in need, all while expecting nothing in return. We are willing to be considered ignorant and foolish by those in our Oikos because we believe that the Bible is the infallible word of God. We will get involved in messy relationships while pursuing peace, knowing that it would be so much easier to just let the relationship go.
Why? Why do we do such ridiculous things? Because we know that Jesus Is Greater!
And we follow Him, who left the comforts of Heaven to enter into the difficulties of this broken world. Jesus laid His life down, reconciling us to the Father, so that those who call on His name can have an abundant life that is only found in Christ.
Now then, laying our lives down doesn’t sound ridiculous at all, does it?
