Spreadsheets
By: Kaleigh Hoschar
One thing my husband and I do is sit down and update a spreadsheet… I know! Sounds super fun and engaging!
BUT. One thing that this does is allow us to be prepared to give. We can look at what 10% is in tithe, what 10% is in saving and what 80% is in living.
As much as school taught us to budget wisely and save our money, school never accounted for God’s math. It’s just different!
Check this out:
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21
This idea to “store up” treasures in heaven… An eternal perspective to an earthly problem.
If we didn’t look at our spreadsheet and just blindly spend, we would find ourselves being ridged and stingy with the money God has asked us to steward and it would rot.
Challenging you and I today to continue to develop a plan for where we want our hearts to be and to store up accordingly by crafting a plan for generosity because the only way we store up in heaven is by letting go on earth. Letting God do what God does best.
