Perfectly Weak
By: Sheila Sonon
2 Corinthians 12:9 – “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Lately, I’ve been praying—really praying—for God to help me recognize the Holy Spirit. I’ve been feeling alone. Not just alone in the world, but distant from God. Unworthy. Heavy. Like I’m stumbling through a walk that everyone else seems to make look easy.
This journey to live as a Christian has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done. The world pulls. The enemy whispers. Half the time, I don’t even realize the devil has crept in until I’m knee-deep in doubt or shame.
But here’s the truth that I’m learning: God never called us to walk this alone. He didn’t save us to leave us struggling in our own strength. Jesus promised that when He left, He would send the Helper—the Holy Spirit. Not just a gentle presence, but a powerful force—God’s own Spirit inside of us.
The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is living in us. That’s not a metaphor. That’s dynamite (dunamis) power—DynaMight Christianity. The Holy Spirit is not just a helper for the “strong.” He is strength for the broken.
So today, I remind myself—God is looking for the surrendered and His Spirit will do what we can’t do on our own.
Take a moment to sit in God's presence and listen to this song “Same God”. It’s a reminder that the God of Jacob, Moses, Mary, and David is still the same today—faithful, powerful, and present in your weakness. Let the lyrics minister to your heart: “I’m calling on the God who made a shepherd boy courageous…” —because the same God who gave them strength will meet you right where you are. Let it be more than a song—make it a prayer with melody.
