Competing Advice
By: Pastor Todd Crofford
It’s a world full of competing advice. Your friends say “He’s cute” but your parents say “He’s trouble”. Your nutritionist says “salad” but the commercial says “Two large pepperoni for $12.99.” Who to believe?
This happens all the time with our money. Social media influencers are telling you what you can’t live without, but God tells you something different. If we give generously, the Bible says:
“God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (II Corinthian 9:8)
It all comes down to trust. Will you trust the modern-day prophet with 2 million followers or the ancient truth that has proved itself dependable despite going against modern logic? You have the freedom to weigh the decision for yourself, but let me put my thumb on one side of the scale and tell you I have found that I cannot out-give God. No matter what I pour out, He always sees to it that I have what I need.
If you trust him and create a generous plan for giving- you are going to find out the same is true for you.
