A Little Direction, Please!
By: Pastor Chrissy Cooney
I have a confession - I am directionally challenged.
I’m the person that needs an App to tell me how to get anywhere that takes me out of the county.
City driving? Forget it! I need my smartphone AND a side-seat navigator!
In the “old days” of driving by GPS, if an exit was closed and my GPS didn’t have the latest update, I could end up lost for hours or even driving the wrong direction entirely.
As smart as our phones will ever get, they will never know everything, and there is always the potential that the voice coming out of that phone will lead us astray.
I’m so glad that’s not the relationship we have with our Heavenly Father. He knows where we’re coming from, and where we’re going. He knows what we are lacking, what we need today, and what we will need tomorrow. He is Omniscient, Omnipresent, and Omnipotent!
AI may be able to search the vast stores of knowledge available on the internet, but it doesn’t know me. It didn’t call me by name before I was in my mother’s womb, it doesn’t know what made me cry last week, or laugh today.
One of my very favorite scriptures is James 1:5, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
How utterly amazing is it that the God who knows everything about us will also generously give us wisdom when we ask. That He is right here with us, only a whisper away, full of lovingkindness toward us and just waiting to take our hand and respond to our request for help.
He is never misguided, never out of date, and never out of range. Hallelujah!
