Love it or Leave it
By: Nicole Goddard
I’m going to kick off this devotional with a little confession – I often find scriptures I use in my writing with the help of AI. Most online search engines now provide a brief AI overview that has become rather handy and efficient, helping me to quickly find my answers and spare me the time of reading through each suggested link. In just a millisecond I can quickly find some top scriptures to consider and go look up in my bible. I can wholeheartedly believe that this kind of quick info will capture the hearts of many non-believers as they dip their toes into scriptures!
While AI can be a handy tool to get us in the right direction, AI is but a sophisticated imitator, driven by the data input it receives and its programming. It was created by God through his people, however AI is not created in God’s image. AI cannot house and experience the Holy Spirit. For AI, the Bible is merely words, not a living word.
I don’t know where you fall on the spectrum of love it or leave it, and its okay if you’re swinging back and forth like me. But we can rest assured that AI cannot inherently replace us nor can it ever experience our God and eternity with him.
As the prophet Isaiah stated to Israel:
But now, this is what the Lord says—
he who created you, Jacob,
he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
Isaiah 43:1
May we navigate new technologies and worldly changes with the peace of knowing that we are his and our heavenly Father is ours. Thanks be to God!
