Why Wait?

Why Wait?
By: Kaleigh Hoschar

Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. But John tried to talk him out of it. “I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said, “so why are you coming to me?”
But Jesus said, “It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires.” So John agreed to baptize him.
After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”

Matthew 3:13-17 NLT

What does obedience look like for you today?
For Jesus that day, obedience meant being baptised.

I remember when my husband was a new Christian. He was so excited to learn more about the Lord and was so on fire, but he had a holdup… And it was baptism. For a while he waited and then the Lord tugged at his heart… asking him for obedience in that department!

Fast forward and he finally decides to get baptised… to share with the whole worth his faith in Jesus.

I remember his arms stretched wide in victory in front of our family and friends. Victory in Jesus and his work on the cross. Victory in Jesus for he took on the grave so that we would be with him in eternity.

Ryan answered the call to go public with his faith because Jesus led by example. Don’t miss the opportunity to bring God great joy!

Maybe this is for you today. Or maybe someone in your world. Just remember, God wants ALL of you! Including your public declaration of faith!
