A Humble Start
By Nicole Goddard
The King of the World wore a diaper.
As a Mama in the trenches of changing diapers and wiping bums, this both humors me and astonishes me. The single most important man to walk this earth, the Son of God, had his great, grand start in this world in a manger - with a diaper – or whatever cloth diaper wrap they used in that day.
Now every earthly King starts as a baby, but did Jesus have to? No, he chose to. Instead of a grand, loud, vibrant entry, Jesus arrived tiny, vulnerable, humble. A babe that would grow and learn, exploring the world and people just as you and I do, fulfilling the Father’s will and scriptures. Story after story, Jesus would bow low in servitude to others, leading by example to his disciples and followers.
But my goodness, he wouldn’t stop there.
By his knowledge, my righteous servant will justify many, and he will carry their iniquities. Isaiah 53:11.
What a King we serve! Jesus didn’t just stumble his way through his earthly life until he found himself staring at a cross. No, he made every single choice with our reconciliation in mind. He had a single mission in mind - do whatever it takes to secure mine and your salvation.
Thank you Jesus.
