Stop and Pay Attention
By: Pastor Todd Crofford
Have you ever stopped to think about what Jesus looked like? Some paintings through church history make him strikingly handsome- an incredible standout by his appearance. Some paintings even put this golden glow around him, setting him apart from all others. Yet Isaiah the prophet tells us, "He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him" -Isaiah 53:2
Translation, giving Jesus nothing more than a passing glance would not have drawn you to him. If you want to know what he has to say and the difference he came to make, you have to lean in. Then again, isn’t that the way God has always made it to be? If you want to know him better this year, you have to stop and pay attention.
What a challenge when the best season to really see what God is like is also the busiest season of our calendars. But I believe you are up to the challenge. After all, you stopped to read this. Keep leaning in to God and this will be the greatest Christmas season of your life.
