A Friend in Need

A Friend in Need is a ministry in which we prepare or purchase and deliver meals to our church families in time of sickness, hospitalization or other needs.
Friend in Need | Food preparation and delivery

Responsibilities: Prepare and deliver a meal for a family at critical times.

Access Special Needs Ministry

Here at Real Life we believe that everyone has access to the love of Christ and that God has a plan for every person regardless of their physical or developmental challenges. Access is a ministry that provides assistance to all ages to engage in worship, learn more about Christ and serve.

Responsibilities: Attend The Wild kid’s ministry with a child; Provide assistance as needed with crafts; Encourage child to engage with others; Provide sensory input as needed. Training provided. (Teenagers aged 14+ can apply)
Access | Momentum Friend

Responsibilities: Attend Momentum with a child; Provide assistance as needed with activities; Encourage child to engage with others; Provide sensory input as needed. Training provided. (Teenagers aged 14+ can apply.)

Elevate | Student Ministries

Elevate is a growing student ministry that centers itself around the message of Jesus Christ for students in grades 8-12. Volunteers are asked to serve on a regular basis to build lasting relationships with the students that attend.
Elevate | Games Coordinator
(2x month or more)
Responsibilities: Energetic person who loves to interact with students; Need to be able to handle speaking to 40+ students, keep them engaged for approximately 30 minutes, and have fun with them.
Elevate | Small Group Leader
(2x month or more)
Responsibilities: Lead boy’s or girl’s small group for approximately 15 minutes to discuss message of the evening and relate or apply it to their lives; Must have excellent listening skills and ability to interact with students on a personal level. Conversations are led by established questions about the message.
Elevate | Snacks/Check-In Coordinator
(2x month or more)
Responsibilities: Assist in planning and distribution of snacks; Coordinate with Elevate Director to maintain supplies at hand; Oversee clean-up. Ensure youth are checked in and then later released to approved family member.

Funeral Food Team

Funeral Food Team is a ministry that sets up, cleans up, prepares and serves food for a meal at our church after the funeral of a Real Life Church attender or their immediate family.

Hope Cafe

This ministry helps to create a welcoming environment during our worship services by providing coffee, sweet treats and other refreshments. We ask our volunteers to always remember their smiles while serving.

Responsibilities: Arrive 1 & 1/2 hours prior to service start time; Brew coffee, Serve individual servings of refreshments; Remain at counter before and after service to refill and clean-up. Volunteers needed for both Sat and Sun.

LoveSOMD Food Pantry

This ministry provides bread, dry goods, produce and other food items to local families in need. The pantry is open on Wed 5-6:30pm, Sun 12:30-2pm and one Wednesday month for special produce distributions. (Typically the 2nd Wednesday of the month.
LoveSOMD Food Pantry | Panera Bread Pick-up/Driver Waldorf or California
(1x month or more)
Responsibilities: Pick-up donations from Waldorf or California Panera on Tues nights or Wed mornings and deliver to church on Wed before 3pm.
LoveSOMD Food Pantry | Sunday Pantry Volunteer
(1x month or more)
Responsibilities: Open pantry 12:15-2:00pm to sign-in shoppers and assist with food selection.
LoveSOMD Food Pantry | Monthly Produce Distribution Volunteer
  • Unload truck and sort food items - Wed 2-4:30pm   --AND/OR--
  • Sign-in, greet and assist shoppers - Wed 5-6:30pm

Missions and Cross-Cultural Team

A ministry that reaches out to share Christ’s love and God’s Word with people from different cultures - both in this country and abroad.
Missions/Cross-Cultural Team | Serving Partner

Responsibilities: Pray for missions teams and specific projects or cultural issues. Help increase awareness of missions to all age groups at Real Life; Help organize and support fundraisers or item gathering drives.

Momentum | Student Ministries

At Momentum we combine high energy fun with high quality truth from God’s word aimed right at the 5th-7th grade ages. Volunteers are asked to serve on a regular basis to build lasting relationships with the students that attend.
Momentum | Games Coordinator
(1x month or more)
Responsibilities: Energetic person who loves to interact with students and create activities or games for them to participate in; Need to be able to handle speaking to large group of students, keep them engaged for allotted time, and have fun with them. These games help to break the ice and form new relationships.
Momentum | Small Group Leader
(1x month or more)

Parking Team

The volunteers of this ministry are the very first impression a guest has of the people of Real Life. They assist with any needs relative to our parking lot.

Responsibilities: Serve prior to and after a service; Assist with traffic flow; Help locate available spaces; Provide assistance to folks with limited mobility.
Parking Team | Special Event Volunteer
Responsibilities: Serve prior/during special events such as Trunk or Treat, Christmas, Easter, etc; Assist with traffic flow; Help locate available spaces; Provide assistance to folks with limited mobility.

Red Shirt Crew

This is a ministry of first impressions. We do everything possible to make our new guests comfortable from the very first time they walk in the door at Real Life and again each time they return.
Red Shirt Crew | Front Door Greeter/Usher

Responsibilities: Open doors and greet people as they enter the building; Provide an arm to those with ambulatory needs or an umbrella during rainfall; Assist people in locating a seat if limited seating; Pass the offering plate during services.
Red Shirt Crew | Inside Greeter
(1x month or more)
Responsibilities: Stand at doors leading to sanctuary to greet people and hand out bulletins; Occasionally distribute things at the end of a service; Direct people where to go.
Red Shirt Crew | Connect Center Staff
(1x month or more)
Responsibilities: Answer questions about upcoming activities/events; Welcome new guests and provide more info about Real Life; Assist with sign-up lists.
Red Shirt Crew | Visitor Bread Baker
(1x month or more)
Responsibilities: Bake sweet bread loaves; Bring to church office where drivers will pick up to disburse to new visitors.
Red Shirt Crew | Visitor Bread Delivery

Responsibilities: Deliver fresh baked bread to visitors; Thank them for visit; Answer any basic questions about Real Life; Provide church office contact info for detailed questions.

Safety Team

This team protects the people and property of Real Life. Our team provides care and a sense of security to all who attend, worship and serve at Real Life Church campuses. The Safety Team will provide leadership and guidance in the event of an emergency.

Prior military, security, first responder or law enforcement experience desired but not required. (Typically serve minimum 1x month) Training provided:

The Wild

Our children’s ministry is Wild about God and Wild about kids. In the Wild we strive to build relationships with kids and in turn build their relationships with Christ. We ask volunteers to Worship One - Serve One each weekend since our programs run during regular worship service times.
The WILD | Front Desk Leader
(1x month or more)
Responsibilities: Assist parents during check-in using tablets/computer; Warmly welcome and enroll new visitors; Monitor children’s wing during programs and assist classrooms as needed; Contact parents if needed.
The WILD | Worship Leader
(1x month or more)
Responsibilities: Lead kids enthusiastically in fun-filled worship using simple dance or hand motions to help them learn how to glorify God. (Teenagers aged 14+ can apply for this position.)
The WILD | Small Group Leader
(Pre-K and Kindergarten)

Responsibilities: Present interactive and engaging Bible story for 4-6yr olds; Maintain order amongst children during worship; Assist children with a craft, game or activity reinforcing message of the day; Oversee free-play time and clean-up.

Responsibilities: Care for and comfort infants aged 0-1; Change diapers; Play, rock and read to children; Provide snacks or bottle provided by parents.
The WILD | Toddler Leader

Responsibilities: Operates screen slides, videos and sound during Worship and Story Time. Training provided. (Teenagers aged 14+ can apply for this position.)
The WILD | Decor Leader
(1x month or more)
Responsibilities: Design and/or create themed decorations for various rooms of Children’s wing in accordance with monthly curriculum or during special events such as VBS, Trunk or Treat, Easter Egg Hunt, etc.
The WILD | Special Events Coordinator
Responsibilities: Assist Children’s Director in advanced planning of events such as VBS, Trunk or Treat, Easter Egg Hunt, etc.; Contact volunteers to coordinate various tasks; Attend planning meetings; Provide support on day of event.

Worship Arts Ministry

A ministry that humbly seeks to lead others through a transforming and interactive experience of God’s powerful presence in corporate praise and worship through use of music, drama, dance, art and technology.
Worship Arts | Singer / Instrumentalist
(Requires Audition with Worship Director)
Commitment: Maintain up-to-date relationship with God; Be willing to serve on rotational basis 1x month (or more if desired); Attend worship practice on Wed 6:45-9pm prior to weekend ministering; Must serve at all three services of weekend that you are on team; Serve Sat 4-7pm and Sun 7:45am-Noon.
Worship Arts | Audio Tech Assistant
(1x month or more)
Responsibilities: Operate sound board (training provided); Assist with stage set-up; Attend worship practices and services on assigned service weekend: Sat 4-7pm and Sun 7:45am-Noon.
Worship Arts | Visual Tech Assistant

  • Operate ProPresenter for screens during worship services; Attend worship practices and services on assigned service weekend: Sat 4-7pm and Sun 7:45am-Noon.  --OR--

Responsibilities: Audition for Worship Director or Dance Coordinator; Attend practice as requested; Perform at all three services on a weekend; Arrive 1 hour prior to service start time.
